Leland Little Auctions Holiday Sales

Leland Little Auction

Ah, my favorite time of year — holiday jewelry auctions! Some of the most unique pieces show up at auction around this time, so I am constantly browsing catalogs both online, in my mailbox and making note of when the sales begin. Two really great sales that are coming up are Leland Little’s holiday sales: they’ve got one online-only sale that runs November 21st-November 28th and their December Important Winter Auction that happens on December 1st. Both are noteworthy and I highly recommend browsing through, making your picks and getting registered to bid. I’ve enjoyed choosing my favorites and can’t wait to share them with you here!

I’ll start in order and focus on the online-only sale, which you can currently bid on now until November 28th, 2018:

Lot 2017: A cool but classic pair of 14k yellow gold swirl stud earrings. These are fun as they are bold enough to make a statement but chic enough to make them your signature earrings.

Lot 2028: This gorgeous platinum and diamond ring is one to bid on! I love the circular design, I think the shape flatters every finger. The center diamond is approx. 0.22 carats, able to be worn as an alternative engagement ring or a right hand ring.

Lot 2079: I love an auction lot with more than one item in it! This is a great one because it features two opal rings, both very similar in quality and nearly matching. One ring is 14k yellow gold and the other is 10k yellow gold. These would look awesome worn together, as they complement one another so well!

Lot 2082: Another ring duo to be auctioned off are these two–one is green the other is blue! Cool colors are my jam, so I’m already a fan of this lot. What makes it even more special is the blue one is actually carved lapis and it is carved into a pharaoh. Even better for me is it’s exactly my ring size 🙂

Lot 2187: A really neat addition to this jewelry auction is the several lots of books offered — all of which are jewelry books in excellent condition, often out-of-print finds. The collection comes from an estate of a woman who loved jewelry and gems. This grouping has some great titles–London’s Lost Jewels documents the Cheapside Hoard, and if you don’t know what that is, you need to bid!

Lot 2191: This grouping of jewelry books is a good one! Maker & Muse was one of my most favorite museum exhibits! The rest, I actually don’t own myself and might be bidding on these.

Now let’s look at the December 1st Important Winter Auction:

Lot 59: With bold gold link necklaces being popular right now, I am always looking out for them at auctions because a brand new piece is usually over-the-top expensive. Plus, the vintage links are hard to find and often way cooler. This is a prime example, I love the oblong and short links…this piece is 14k yellow gold and weighs almost 25 pennyweights! Estimate: $600-1200

Lot 76: I stopped in my tracks when seeing this brooch, as I love all things Nefertiti. This brooch is extra special because it is the Egyptian goddess bedazzled in emeralds and diamonds…and the piece itself also includes rubies and turquoise. It is 18k gold. Estimate: $2000-4000

Lot 90: I love to include a beautiful diamond necklace in my auction round-ups because in my dreams, I would buy pieces like this and wear them with a t-shirt. This particular piece is done in platinum and Old European cut diamonds which total nearly four carats! It already has several bids on it which proves how outstanding it really is! Estimate: $1500-3500

Lot 138: Winner of most unique item in this auction goes to this ring! It is set with the most glorious opal with nice play-of-color. I love the design of the piece and how it is accented by peridot, citrine and sapphire–a truly original combination. This piece dates back to the Arts & Crafts movement and is done in 18k gold. Estimate: $400-800

Lot 139: Another glorious opal — this time from the Art Deco period, this ring is done in platinum & 14k, and set with a black opal and black enamel. I love the black enamel detail and think it is the perfect way to finish off this design. Diamond accents in the form of an arrow motif complete this jaw-dropping ring. Estimate: $1000-2000

Lot 141: I love an opal that I feel like I can stare at forever and get lost in the color — this brooch is a prime example of that! Set in platinum with a ring of bezel set diamonds surrounding it, this piece almost has a galactic feel to it. Estimate: $800-1600

Lot 142: To round out my opal picks from this sale, I’ve chosen this necklace because it is definitely different than the other opals featured in this sale — the time period the piece was made, the delicate seed pearls that outline the piece and the unique shape of the black opal. I also love the leaf details and the chain, although it doesn’t seem original to the piece, is really cool. Estimate: $500-1000

Lot 151: I always like to search for charm bracelets at auction because each one tells a story and is filled with memories. You can typically snag a full bracelet for a great price compared to buying each individual charm and separate charm bracelet. This particular one has an interesting mix of charms — purse, basket, “mad money” charm, M initial, perfume and bejeweled hat all stand out to me. There are 12 total charms on a knotted motif bracelet. Estimate: $1200-2400
