Spring 2019 Obsessions

Spring Trends

I’m so over this winter — from the cold days to the no-sunshine, all-rain weather we are having here in Nashville, I’m daydreaming today about spring!  I’ve decided to put together a little TOP TEN mood board of things I’m currently obsessing over.  These are my favorite kinds of posts to do and I actually haven’t done one in awhile!  So here goes…

Spring Obsessions

1 — Since coming home from Tucson, I’ve been abuzz over rocks, minerals, crystals and gems (naturally). Before I left for my trip, I made sure to document my tumbled/polished collection, so I wouldn’t buy ones I already had. My collection has gotten so big, it is easy to forget what I even have!  I picked up three while in Tucson — Pinolith from Austria, Green Calcite from Pakistan and Kunzite.

2 — Jennie Kwon Designs latest ring creation, called the diamond Kite Trio Equilibrium ring, gives some serious futuristic vibes and I’m absolutely loving it!  I’ve noticed a trend of pointy bands stacked on top of engagement rings and this is a great option if you’re looking to try out this look. I love how it looks with my engagement ring, which is usually hard to match up with!

Spring Obsessions

3 — With a lot of my rings not fitting me at the moment, I’ve turned my attention to necklaces, pendants and charms. These are my latest favorites, with the bottom row consisting of all amethysts, a gemstone I can’t get enough of recently. The entire bottom row is for sale, except for the largest heart. The middle necklace is a rock crystal piece that I bought late one night when I couldn’t sleep. I love the way it sets apart from all my gold chains that I typically layer it with. And finally, the very top necklace is a start to my “Motherhood” charm necklace I’ve decided to create on this journey of motherhood. I’ve got a gold baby carriage gifted from Bailey’s Estate Jewelry and my baptism medal.

Spring Obsessions

4 — My current jewelry goal of reading and buying one new jewelry book per month is going strong. This book Arts and Crafts Jewelry in Boston has been such a treat to read!  It was my February pick and I still haven’t finished it yet even though it has been a full week already into March.  I need some serious book time tonight before bed!

Spring Obsessions

5 — Last month I started a new hashtag challenge and it was all about antique ring boxes!  It was so fun to see everyone’s hoards of these rare finds and I love how “rainbowfying” them before taking a photo became the thing to do. I ended up drooling over all the submissions and posted a few on my Instagram page. The one above is from Market Square Jewelers who always has amazing inventory, so it only seemed right that their box selection was just as amazing.

Spring Obsessions

6 — Always searching for the coolest ear cuffs and unique earrings to make an ultimate ear stack and lately I’ve been loving everything Hiro-taka has been creating. This look from his latest look book is definitely my favorite. I just got a pair of the hoop ear cuffs and can’t wait to add them to my collection.

Spring Obsessions

7 — My two biggest obsessions while in Tucson were amethyst stalactites and inlays. I bought the amethyst stalactites from Rare Earth Mining Co. and the inlays are from Parle Gems, which they’ve had since the 80s. I snapped this photo after the first day of Tucson in my hotel room. It ended up being one of my favorite photos from the trip!

Spring Obsessions

8 — These three rings are my current favorites that I have for sale in my shop @shopGemGossip. I love the turquoise bombe ring, especially the old cut diamond in the center…and the art nouveau conversion ring is to-die-for! The opal’s fire mimics the enamel coloring in the piece, it is crazy.  And I have a feeling emeralds are going to be very popular, very soon (for both myself and in general) and this emerald and diamond halo ring is such a great ring.

Spring Obsessions

9 — I recently discovered Protetta, they make luxury trays, which I’m always on the hunt for to display my crystals on or put my jewelry on when I’m not wearing it. I love this one called the Giostra and was really happy with the quality of it. Just so pretty!

Spring Obsessions

10 — I just got back from the Atlanta Jewelry Show and one of my purchases there was this $6 ring tray from Regal Pak. It is honestly the best $6 I ever spent! I don’t’ have a silver colored ring tray and this one is made pretty well. I loved staging this photo with a bunch of rings from my personal collection. It was the first thing I did when I came home from the almost 4 hour drive! 🙂
