Glimpse into the Past: Brigitte Helm, 1934

This is one of my favorite old photos, featuring Brigitte Helm circa 1934.  The German actress has some amazing jewelry on–from the necklace, to the large drop earrings, and all those diamond bracelets!  I love it.  But we are going to focus on her rings, with such a neat variety she chose to mix and stack.  I like the combination, and if you are wanting to mimic the look yourself, here are some similar styles.

Starting with the top, Brigitte has a white gold and diamond ring on her right ring finger. This one from Valentina’s Gifts is a great choice. Done in 18k white gold with rose-cut diamonds from the Edwardian Era, this ring is priced at $1150. Size 5 with the center diamond weighing approximately 1/4 carat.

On her pinkie is a rectangular onyx ring done in white gold. An amazing similar piece is this one from Fay Cullen. The large black onyx is softened by some delicate filigree work of 14k white gold. Size 5, price: $175

A large grey pearl solitaire ring is hard to come by! This pearl may not be as large and statement-making as Brigitte’s but I like the claw-prongs. Composed of 10k yellow gold, priced at $75 from VintageFair (Tias.com)

Stacked with the large pearl ring is a three diamond ring, often called a trilogy ring. This one’s done in platinum and is .90 carats! Size 7 from Israel Rose, price: $2250
