Sex & the City 2 premieres this week and Carrie fever has struck. I had a Carrie fever myself when I saw her jewelry on the red carpet of the UK movie premiere. A close up of her arm cuff put together using a ribbon and antique Fred Leighton ear clips of diamonds. Very ingenious to use ear clips on ribbon to make an arm cuff.
Most females will be swooning over the shoes or the fashion of Sex & the City 2, but I was more interested in the jewelry of course. Several designers got the opportunity of a lifetime to have their jewelry featured in the movie, which I’m sure will have millions of female viewers. Wendy Brandes, Itay Malkin and Jennifer Fisher are three well-deserving designers whose jewels are shining on the big screen. Here are the show stoppers:
The Cleopatra earrings by Wendy Brandes have really caught everyone’s attention, dangling from Kim Cattrall’s ears. Her design got enormous publicity being included in the trailer for the movie. The earrings are done in 18k yellow gold and 1.36 carats of diamonds. Price: $7250
Itay Malkin has done wonders with black diamonds and this is his masterpiece. This 5 carat black diamond ring makes its appearance in Sex & the City 2 in the final scene, when Big presents it to Carrie while saying “because you are not like anyone else.” The ever-important ring is done in 18k white gold with pave diamonds, and priced at $10,000 in limited release each having a stamped serial number with certificate.
Many pieces of Jennifer Fisher jewelry are used in Sex & the City 2. Charlotte wears the heart charm necklace, the pave white diamond disc pendant, the XS heart earrings, and the faceted chunk ring. I've been watching the old reruns on E, and in some of the 1998/1999 episodes, Carrie has on this beautiful ring which looks like a rose de france amethyst solitaire in a tiffany setting. I took a few pics of the tv to see if I could either get one made by picking out a similar setting and stone, or see if anyone knew where the heck this ring can be purchased! I am looking for a necklace Carrie Bradshaw wore in several episodes of Sex and the City. It is a large round pink stone worn in a gold setting/chain. She wore this on her first dinner date with the "Russian" and also to the baby shower where her shoes went missing. Can anyone shed some light on this necklace or its designer?
