Jewels at my Doorstep: Todd Reed Jewelry #LoveGold

Todd Reed Jewelry has fascinated me since my second blog post when Gem Gossip was first created.  My lengthy admiration came up short because I never got the chance to see his work in person.  When these jewels arrived at my doorstep, I was blown away.

My immediate inspiration came from the raw cube diamonds and the matte 18k yellow gold.  An appropriate tag line of “raw elegance” truly describes his aesthetic.  So what did “raw elegance” mean to me, in a photo?  My take started with an aspect of myself usually kept unseen, unexposed by the general public–wet, just-out-of-the-shower hair.  Most people don’t leave the house with wet hair. It gives you a vulnerable and raw feeling–perfect for the shoot.  The elegance aspect was easy to add; some makeup. With a white backdrop and no-frills bustier left unseen in the photos, less proved to be more, especially after adding all the jewelry!  The warmth of the 18k yellow gold stood out against the cold, wet aura of the scene.

After getting some one-on-one time with a photo session of the jewels themselves, I understood the allure of the raw and rose cut diamonds.  From the fancy colors to the unique sparkle–it was hard to send these babies back to Colorado, to Todd’s studio, a studio known for its unique vibe.  Todd Reed collectors venture from all parts of the globe to visit and sometimes even design a one-of-a-kind piece!  I can’t wait to get a chance to visit someday!
