Attraction. Wish Upon a Star. Light Years Away. A Star is Born. Happy Hour. These are the names of Marmari’s five main jewelry collections, each having their own identity, yet are all a part of a greater fabric within her story to tell.

Before receiving these jewels at my doorstep, I took some time speaking with founder and designer of Marmari, Nouran Elmarmari, to learn more about her brand. Each collection and piece is symbolic and has a bigger meaning, with the aim of empowering women at the center of everything. Nouran began her career in the media sector but always had a passion for jewelry. She inherited several pieces of jewelry and these heirlooms resonated with her. It was the stories behind these pieces that intrigued her along with the captivating gemstones, of course. Nouran’s grandfather was a jewelry pioneer —  he  was the proprietor of a workshop and four jewelry showrooms in Cairo, Egypt, so a love for jewelry was instilled in Nouran at a young age.

The five collections touch upon self love, celestial bodies, symbolic magnets, positivity and glamour. I’m wearing a piece from four out of the five collections (all except for Happy Hour). Although I’m not wearing anything from Happy Hour, I wanted to touch upon that collection because I love the idea behind it.

Happy Hour features a digital clock, with bright, colorful enamel depiction of a time of your choice — this is your “happy hour” so to speak. It could commemorate anything, whether it be the time your son or daughter was born, a special moment in time, or a lucky number…so many possibilities. I’m not wearing this collection as each piece is custom made!

Attraction is such a unique collection with a literal and figurative meaning behind it. You notice the motif of a magnet being used throughout this collection. When worn, these pieces allow you to attract positivity and what you desire. I love the gemstones used in this collection because each one is chosen for its attractive nature, with thoughts behind how it will resonate.

Wish Upon a Star is inspired by Nouran’s love for all things celestial, including far away galaxies, planets, stars and all the unknowns. This collection is very playful, bright and cheery, thanks to jewel-toned coating over gold. I’m wearing the Floating Star necklace and Twinkle Star necklace.

A Star is Born plays upon astrology, birthstones, and mixes astrology into the scene with stud earrings. Each pairing of color + gemstone is meticulously chosen and these will certainly bring joy to anyone’s jewelry box or outfit. If you’re a September baby, like me, the September birthstone studs pair blue sapphires with blue chrome enamel. I’m wearing the studs in my second and third piercing.

Light Years Away is Marmari’s boldest collection, featuring sparkly geodes that are fully enameled on the sides and backs. Nouran carefully chooses the color enamel that speaks to the piece, bringing out undertones and complementing gems. Again, connecting with the other collections, celestial inspiration is at the epicenter of Light Years Away, as the geode itself takes on the symbol of being a tiny galaxy. Nouran wants the wearer to be reminded that she is the center of her universe and important. I’m wearing two geode rings in this shoot.

You can shop all the collections from Marmari on their website and be sure to follow on social media for updates.
