Today’s featured jewelry collector is Olivia of Big Oh Bijoux. I absolutely love her style and she has some of the coolest pieces for sale in her shop — I am dying to own a piece from her someday. Let’s hear more about her journey as an antique & vintage jewelry collector:

“I started more seriously collecting about 10-15 years ago, starting with more delicate and affordable antique pieces, like Victorian baby rings. My grandma was an antique dealer, and I grew up hunting with my mom at local antique shops and fairs. Over time, I taught myself about different eras, how to test gold, identify hallmarks, etc.”

“I have been a longtime collector of harem rings…I loved the connected bands and it fills like cinderella’s slipper when you find one in your size!. I more recently started collecting vintage lucite charms and jewelry, which was more popular in the 1960s and ’70s but can be hard to find in good condition today.”

“Jewelry is my passion because I love the personal connection we have with the jewelry we wear. Special pieces to commemorate a milestone, a pet, or a family member are some of my favorites to source for others and collect. The craftsmanship of vintage and antique pieces is endlessly awe-inspiring to me.”

“For storing my collection, I use a hanging mirror storage cabinet, which I love. It’s not an expensive investment (mine was around $75 on Wayfair) but it really makes a difference. So much easier to find things, and prevents a jumbled mess!”

“I’m obsessed with a pair of Art Deco Platinum and Diamond earrings that I just purchased. One of my jewelers restored them and they are so easy to wear. I intend to keep them, at least until we can go to parties again…”

“My most sentimental piece is my rose cut ruby and diamond ring (from Jewels by Grace) that my partner of nearly 10 years bought as a “long-term partnership” ring. Though we aren’t married, I told him he could certainly buy me a beautiful ring anytime (haha). I picked this one out when Grace was at an antique jewelry fair in NYC three years ago, and I love it as much as the day I set eyes on it!”
