February 19th, 2015 marks the Chinese New Year and what better way to celebrate than with some vintage gold jewelry which commemorates this year’s Zodiac animal–the goat! The goat can have a few different forms, like a sheep or ram, however each zodiac animal has a special significance and some perceived attributes. The goat, for example, has the special attribute of unity, and I hope that simple notion will inspire the world in many ways in this new year!
While I was at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show two weeks ago, I spotted lots of goat-inspired vintage gold jewels. Many especially from designers like ilias Lalaounis, Zolotas, Van Cleef & Arpels, and Tiffany & Co. Most came from the same time period–the 1960s/70s. Ram-head jewelry is definitely a favorite of mine, I have an 18k double ram-head ring that is one of my favorite pieces I own! My favorite find from the antique show came from Robin Katz Jewels–a 1970s Georges L’Enfant pendant that features a super cute sheep/goat/cow with the most admirable expression.
Other favorites chosen above, ten total! Here are the details:
