I’ve been wanting to visit Sofia Kaman‘s jewelry boutique since first discovering her jewelry line back when she used to be called Kamofie & Co. Since then, there has been lots of evolving, not just the name, but the brand, its focus, and most importantly its location. My visit aligned just in time for their new digs, which moved from Abbot Kinney in Venice to an up-and-coming neighborhood on Pico Boulevard in Santa Monica, just a few miles away. I love the area and the new space is quite dreamy!  The store just opened in the beginning of August and I visited on the very last day of August. It is crazy to think it went from an empty space to all that you see in the photos above in a matter of a few weeks. First came the custom lighting fixtures, then all the jewelry cases and furniture, of course plants, and the accent wall with “gold drip” wallpaper (designed by @calicowallpaper). Every detail is on point!

As for the jewelry, dare I say it is even prettier than the space?! I might be a little biased but Sofia does a great job with designing and curating. The store features distinct areas which highlight Sofia’s main focuses–wedding and engagement, her signature collection (a line she designs), and vintage & antique jewelry. Sofia also does custom, one-of-a-kind pieces and has a deep portfolio of bespoke jewels.  One thing that stands out most to me is how wearable her collection is and how well it pairs with vintage and antique jewelry.  She even mixes when displaying as well. You’ll notice an elegant, bohemian vibe that runs throughout, with lots of soft colored enamels, floral motifs, geometric patterns and dangles. I particularly love all the dangle rings as I think everyone’s wedding stack can easily be transformed from adding one of those dangle bands. The pointy bands are another example–just add to any ordinary stack and watch it become the coolest thing you’ve ever worn!

Sofia Kaman has a unique selection of antique and vintage jewelry, all hand-selected by Sofia herself. She recently went on a buying trip to London and brought back some very fine antique jewels, including a really amazing serpent ring. The antique selection spans all different time periods, but mostly Victorian and Art Deco, two of my personal favorites. I love the antique portrait pendant I wore in one of the photos above and I was dying over that elongated diamond ring and wishing it didn’t look so perfect to me. Pops of turquoise and opal are ideal to add to your current ring stack, and Sofia currently has some great examples of this in her antique selection.

I want to thank Sofia for having me in her shop–we had such a fun time talking and gossiping about gems.  She has graciously set up a discount code for everyone reading right now, so you’ll earn 15% off by using GemGossip at checkout if you find something on SofiaKaman.com that you love! Code is good through 9/18/18.
