A Glimpse into Stone & Strand

S&S Homepage_2 Brooke Magnaghi & Nadine McCarthy Kahane Stone & Strand

I’ve been a huge fan of Stone & Strand, an online hot spot for all the best in designer jewelry, and was lucky to catch up with Nadine, CEO & Founder and Brooke, Creative Director & new mom! Each chose their favorite pieces for fall from Stone & Strand!

Stone & Strand is an online destination for fine jewelry that brings the age-old relationship of a personal jeweler and his client into the modern era. We use the convenience and story telling capabilities of the internet as a platform for jewelry lovers to discover the very best designers, supplemented by an intimate service offering, pop-up stores and unique educational experiences.

Stone & Strand launched in May 2013 with a group of carefully selected designers based in New York City – to celebrate all the local talent we have right here in our hometown. In a second phase, we recently launched our first collection of international designers, and will continue to roll this out in the fall.

Our international collection include designers such as Ana de Costa, Holly Dyment, Caspita and Mariangela Manrique amongst others, while an exclusive Stephen Webster collection will launch in time for the holidays.

Finally, below are our thoughts on the pieces we will be wearing this fall:

Nadine:

I’m an earring girl at heart – everyone has his or her favorite type of jewelry. This is especially true in the fall and winter, when statement earrings are a real must, either contrasting against a cozy winter knit, or with a cocktail dress for a holiday party.

Top of my list are asymmetric Yellow Gold Tarrot earrings by Ana De Costa, her tasvorites are an amazingly vivid green and I love how they are simultaneously graphic and organic. Meanwhile Elisa Solomon has dangling flower earrings that are gorgeous and really easy to wear.

One thing you may not know about me is that I grew up obsessed with horses and studied Natural Sciences with a minor in Zoology at Cambridge University (in the UK). While New York City doesn’t offer much in the way of wildlife, our jewelry designers help to make up for this. Amedeo has a stunning unicorn ring, while Arman’s Reindeer necklace is breathtaking and Aida Bergsen’s snake ring has a special place in my heart!

Brooke:

This Fall, I’ll be sporting lots of menswear looks with pastel touches like outerwear and knits so I’m planning to punctuate things with some colorful statement jewelry. Nora Kogan’s bright red man ray lips cuff will add a chic surrealist accent, while a lovely pair of Larkspur & Hawk’s deep violet drop earrings will balance things out with a feminine touch.

Of course, gold rings are a staple for me – I like to stack and wear them on multiple fingers – but we have a few new gold statement rings this season including Crow’s Nest new snatch ring and Aida Bergsen’s lace ring which will both make super cool gilded additions to my collection.
