Hindman Auctions continues to bring the best of the best and although this sale had been delayed due to COVID-19, it is now set for May 14th, 2020 and totally worth the wait! From bold rings, to power bracelets, statement necklaces, fun animal jewelry and everything in between, this sale has over 300 lots of fine jewelry ready to get your bidder’s paddle swinging. Not only are there some really unique antique pieces, but there are also some trendy diamond riviére necklaces and diamond tennis bracelets — essentials that everyone is lusting after. Also some great signed pieces from Cartier, Tiffany, Buccellati, Bvlguri, Roberto Coin and many more.
Take a look at some of my favorites from the May 14th lineup — I’ve broken them down into three categories: Bold Rings, Power Bracelets and Statement Necklaces. Be sure to register to bid and have your calendar marked!
Bold Rings
Lot 14: Sapphires usually don’t stop me in my tracks — this one did! I love the color and tone of this stone and although the darker, velvety blue color is more sought after, I prefer this hue. I even love the setting — a delicate platinum basket with diamond details that’s elegant and sweet. If you’re looking for an alternative engagement ring and thinking maybe sapphire, look no further! Estimate: $5000-7000
Lot 15: The very next lot is also quite impressive. First off, I’m obsessed with the bold, elongated style. Secondly, some gorgeous gemstones are used — sapphires and diamonds. And last but not least, ENAMEL. This recipe creates my ideal ring and I definitely love this one. Again, love the tone and hue of these blue sapphires and also the yellow sapphire is to-die-for. Estimate: $5000-7000
Lot 19: I know amethyst is a stone often signifying royalty and this ring exudes supremacy. Fit for a queen, it is set with one oval cut amethyst surrounded by old European cut diamonds, which total 3.25 carats. Definitely a bold ring if you take into consideration that carat weight. Wear this on your middle or pointer finger, along with some stacked gold bands on your other fingers, and you’re golden (pun intended). Estimate: $3000-5000
Lot 21: There’s something about star sapphires that makes them seem magical. I absolutely love the style and design of this ring — with the scrollwork in the gallery and diamonds situated the way they are. This ring is bold, but it is also open and airy. So pretty! Estimate: $3000-5000
Lot 31: I’ve had emeralds on my mind a lot recently and when I came across this ring while browsing the action catalog I knew I had to include it in my top picks. Love the navette style and the marquise cut diamonds as accent stones along the shank. This would make a gorgeous right-hand ring and would make an ideal anniversary gift. Estimate: $2500-3500
Lot 159: I recently sat on a trends panel, with an expert on wedding and engagement trends — she mentioned the hottest diamond cut right now is OVAL. As I’ve said numerous times before, buying at auction is the way to go! This oval diamond weighs 10.17 carats and is completely stunning. The color and clarity were graded by GIA with a certificate stating I color, SI-1 clarity. The mounting is just as stunning and is platinum. Estimate: $70,000-90,000
Lot 303: I had to include this Cartier panther ring because you all know how panther-obsessed I am. I’ve seen lots of Cartier panthers and this particular style is really lovely. The iconic black spotting design and green tsavorite garnet eyes…and it even comes with the original receipt, box and certificate from Cartier. Estimate: $3500-5500
Power Bracelets
Lot 45: Nothing like an all-original flapper era bracelet, dripping in diamonds and star sapphires! This bracelet is incredible and completely eye-catching. The diamonds total approximately 11 carats and hats off to whomever had to figure that out (I’ve been there with my microscope and table gauge). I would love to see this bracelet being worn as a staple in someone’s wardrobe and not locked up in a safe — let this Art Deco stunner live another life. Estimate: $20,000-25,000
Lot 269: My quest for a diamond tennis bracelet is never-ending because I constantly change my mind over what I want. These emerald cuts look SO good and definitely set apart from typical round cut diamond tennis bracelets. This one is also weighty, coming in at approximately 13.50 carats total, with 45 emerald cuts. So gorgeous, a girl can dream. Estimate: $15,000-20,000
Lot 312: I had to zoom in on this bracelet because its details deserve some spotlight. Comprised of aquamarines, diamonds and sapphires, along with 18k roped gold and platinum. The bracelet measures 7 1/4″ long, also good to know that Hindman always includes jewelry sizes and lengths in their Condition Reports, which is amazing. Love the retro feel of it and I bet it feels wonderful worn. Estimate: $4000-6000
Statement Necklaces
Lot 17: Amethysts are completely underrated and this necklace is prime example of how beautiful this gemstone is. This statement-maker is a Victorian piece that measures about 16 inches long and features 12 oval amethysts. I love the swag chains connecting each stone; a popular motif of the time. Estimate: $1800-2200
Lot 52: Geometric, bold and linear, this statement necklace deserves someone that is also all those things! The dark stones are black onyx and they are cut in various baguette sizes, along with diamonds which both create the beautiful pattern that you see. The metal is 18k white gold and it is 17″ long. Estimate: $2500-3500
Lot 81: I had to include this epic necklace in with my picks because of the provenance and rarity. It is a Tiffany piece from the Art Nouveau era, consisting of an oval mixed cut topaz, emeralds, some bold, contrasting enamel, and sculptural leaves. The necklace is impeccable and all-original. I’m regretting not being able to see it in person. What a collector’s item! Estimate: $10,000-15,000
