Earlier this year I had the pleasure of visiting Heritage Auctions at their headquarters in Dallas, TX. I was intrigued from the moment I walked in the door and have continued to be fascinated by their highly acclaimed operation, from intake to auction block. You can read about my visit here.
Since then, I’ve been following their weekly Tuesday night auctions…even placed a few bids myself and won a few rings! I have to say, their willingness to cater to their buyers really struck a chord with me! I’ve bid/won on lots through numerous auction houses, and the ease from bid to package delivery was five stars! Some key aspects that set my experience apart when bidding with Heritage Auctions: the bid price you see when placing bids includes the buyer’s premium fee when bidding online (this helps tremendously with knowing exactly how much your final bill is going to be and let’s you bid with confidence), paying through PayPal is an option (SO convenient!), once I won I didn’t have to setup shipping through a secondary company—it was all done through Heritage, I also didn’t have to sign and fax back release papers—I got an email sent to my inbox confirming I had won and then a few days later another email telling me my package was on my way with shipping details/tracking. So easy! It will definitely have me coming back! I also got a Collector’s Handbook with my purchase which was a nice added bonus and comes with every first-time winning bid.
I’m excited about their first signature auction of this year, set to take place May 4th, 2015 in New York City. If you’re like me, you’ll be tuning in from your laptop through HeritageLive (their platform to bid online). The auction begins at 10am Eastern Time and includes 400 items in their Signature Floor Session, with their Signature Internet Session to follow. Some truly incredible pieces, including a couple fancy yellow diamonds set in rings, a breath-taking Chanel bracelet, some rare antique pieces, a cool Cartier bracelet, and even a rare Alexandrite ring!
I’ve chosen my favorites below:
Lot 54025: This lot features two matching bracelets, both set in 18k yellow gold with a hinged mechanism and set with lapis. These pieces are heavy, gorgeous gold bracelets that are future heirloom-worthy. Estimate: $4,000-6,000
Lot 54143: An incredible piece of history, this diamond and pearl necklace features 21 pearls which hang from a silver-topped, 18k gold necklace set with rose cut diamonds. The pieces dates to the late 1800s and is in excellent condition. Estimate: $10,000-15,000
Lot 54144: A striking sapphire and diamond cocktail ring with a certificate to boot! The cert states that the sapphire is Ceylon in origin and has no evidence of heat treatment. The sapphire is 12.60 carats in weight and what I love about the setting is the accents of blue enamel. Estimate: $6,000-8,000
Lot 54157: This pair of stunning Art Deco diamond dangle earrings are every girl’s dream! Set in platinum, the diamonds pack a punch with a beautiful sparkle, worth 2.50 carats! Perfect for wedding day jewelry. Estimate: $4,000-5,000
Lot 54165: Another incredible pieces from the same era, this Art Deco diamond bracelet is truly over-the-top! What makes it so special is the caibre cut coral and black onyx accents which give this otherwise all-diamond bracelet some color. What’s even better? It totals approximately eight carats! Estimate: $7,000-9,000
Lot 54169: A really unique bracelet here, it is a saddle-shaped jadeite jade centerpiece affixed on either side with jadeite jade hoops. The bracelet is completed by a diamond band which is set with single cut and baguette cut diamonds, set in platinum. Estimate: $4,000-6,000
Lot 54191: Had to add a little retro into the mix! This is one of the coolest bracelets I’ve seen from this era—a large aquamarine, about 22 carats, set in a unique 18k pink and yellow gold bracelet setting. The weight of the bracelet is 161 grams! Estimate: $13,000-16,000
Lot 54204: The bypass style of rings has always been a favorite of mine (that’s why I chose it as my engagement ring) so when seeing this amazing bypass ring, it instantly took my breath away. Set with an emerald cut diamond and emerald cut emerald in platinum, the ring is further accented by baguette cut diamonds. Estimate: $15,000-20,000
Lot 54245: The combination of fancy colored sapphires, diamonds and black rhodium 18k gold makes for a perfect necklace! I am dying to see this piece worn, but I can imagine it only turning heads. Almost 30 carats of sapphire and approximately 1.89 carats of diamonds are set in this necklace. Estimate: $6,000-8,000
Lot 54298: Black opals always win me over and the coloring pattern on this one is divine! Set in platinum and surrounded by baguette and tapered baguette cut diamonds, this ring makes a statement on its own! Estimate: $4,000-6,000
