Took some photos for Walton’s Antique Jewelry print ads–we had great feedback from last photoshoot and needed new pictures for the new year! We had some different inspiration this time around, and of course some gorgeous jewels. The earrings are Art Deco platinum, diamonds and onyx. The necklace has a detachable brooch, and is peridot, diamonds and pearls. It is amazing and circa 1900s.

I like the first photo far better than the others, and here's why – it's a black and white photo. It let's the shine and structure of earrings stand out without the distraction of color camouflage. The model is posed so her face is on the diagonal; it's a more dynamic and interesting photo because of this, and in my opinion it will be more likely to draw the eye than the others. The pose also allows the earrings to dangle at a different angle than the model's hair and jawline, making it more visually distinctive. The only thing I dont care for in the photo is the scarf (or top) she's wearing; it softens the outline of the onyx drop – I think a bare neckline would've been better.
Now having said all that, I'm not a photographer and I hope I've not offered insult with my detailed (overly detailed?) answer – just wanted to explain WHY I liked that one better
