The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston currently has an awesome exhibit featuring some gorgeous historical jewels. The heart of the exhibit focuses on the materials in which jewelry of the past, present and future are made of–whether gems, feathers, claws or other things you wouldn’t believe! Jewels, Gems & Treasures seems like a great sight for any jewelry fan and I am really wanting to go check out this exhibit in Boston; it runs until November of 2012, so I have time to plan something fun. From the exhibit, a book has sprung [Artful Adornments], which features over 100 pieces that were showcased.
>> If you checked out the exhibit, let me know what you thought!

I haven't gone yet, but they have amazing jewels already on display in their Egypt, Roman and Greek exhibit halls. Beautiful stuff. While you're here check out the Pompeii exhibit in the Science Museum in Cambridge.

Hiya,
I live in Boston and have been to the exhibit a few times now. It has some really pretty pieces (Chanel, Fred Leighton, Van Cleef) but be prepared for the fact it's not a major exhibit. It's in a tiny little room and there are less than maybe 30-40 pieces. I agree with the last comment though, that there other beautiful pieces in the ancient exhibits.
