Today’s Jewelry Collection Story comes from Candy of @myjewelrydiaries – and as you could speculate, her Instagram and Tiktok account is a safe space where she shares her jewelry loves, finds, style and much more. Her bio reads, “your jewelry obsessed bff” and no one’s bio has been more accurate than that statement. I had the pleasure of meeting Candy in real life at NY NOW this past February and the chit chat was immaculate. I’m excited to share her collection with you:
“What inspires me most about jewelry isn’t the high end stuff or the most blinged out piece, but combinations that are a bit unusual. I like a picture that stops me in my tracks. Something that makes me pause and think, how did this person come up with that? I think the true spirit of jewelry wearing that attracts me is when you can clearly see that the wearer gets real use and enjoyment out of wearing that piece of jewelry. When I get that feeling through a photo, I have to stop and freeze. It just speaks to me.
I love jewelry, but I specifically really love rings. I love that each ring fits a little differently, like they each have their own quirks and personalities. I speak from personal experience when I say ring sizing is difficult! You can’t expect perfection. It depends on so many factors– the weather, your knuckles, whether you ate ramen the night before. There’s a personal feel to ring sizing that I find fascinating and almost spiritual. It’s why I choose to wear certain rings over others. It’s just a feeling.
At the risk of sounding cliché, I think the surest way of finding your style with jewelry is to know who you are. You will get to a point where things click and you can drown out the noise around you. So much of jewelry content focuses on the method of collecting. But I’m much more fascinated by what happens after you open that piece. I think that’s where the real story starts.”
