It has been a minute since I last did a current obsessions post! I like doing these in moments of feeling uninspired, which has been my main struggle recently. I think a lot has to do with the upcoming holidays, trying to plan what I think my audience wants to see vs. what I want to write/feature. It is tough when you want to explore new creative outlets but feel like you never have the time to keep up with essential daily tasks. I need more hours in a day!
Anyway, here are my latest obsessions:
Carved gemstone seashell charms — I loved sourcing these special gemstone shells and getting a 14k solid gold loop put on them so they could be worn with other fine jewelry. I started with a very small batch at first to see if it would be something you would be interested in as well and you guys loved them! I sourced another batch but this time decided to pick a number and only do a limited amount. I have one more batch almost complete and that will be the final round. These will retire, so there will only be 100 out in the world! Get yours while you can!
Key collection — I’ve been diligently working on my gold key collection the last few months! These three are definitely my favorites and all happen to have opal as the main stone. Something magical about opals and keys, so both combined truly is special. From left to right is Acanthus Jewelry, Rachel Atherley and Sofia Zakia.
I spent a few hours enthralled by an auction that happened at Bonhams on October 26th — all the items in this one sale are from a single collector, legendary mineral dealer Rock H. Currier. I loved reading the stories from his extensive travels and career over on his website. What a breath-taking collection! This particular piece is a 14k yellow gold jewelry box bejeweled with 51 gemstones. So insane! I absolutely love it. It sold for $42,575
I recently launched two signature chain styles over on shopGemGossip! The one shown here is our mini paper clip chain, which is done in 14k yellow gold and made in Italy. Last night we launched another chain style, the mini staple chain and the price point was our main focus on this piece. We wanted an insane price for a real gold chain, but also have it be a great quality and still strong enough to hold your precious charms. We ended up going with 10k yellow gold and love how it turned out. Check out @shopgemgossip to see and purchase!
I wasn’t lying about my key obsession! Here’s a bunch seen here with a fabric sample I got from The Curious Department, who has a line of fabric and wallpaper that is jewelry-inspired. So many neat options and it has me wanting to redecorate! Check them out if that is something you might be looking for…
I finally got my nails done since February of this year! During quarantine I saved so many inspiration photos of cool nail art that it was quite intimidating to finally sit down and decide on one. I went with something geometric as usual. Love the black and white, also love a good matte finish. For the photo, I played around with some of my favorite antique baby rings.
In time for the holidays, I have some insane boulder opal pieces available over at @shopGemGossip. I loved spending a day getting creative and photographing them — this was my favorite shot. Mirrors are fun to work with when it comes to photography, but it doesn’t hurt that these opals don’t have any bad angles. They are available now!
I am obsessed with this look!! I was lucky enough to have Jeff of Alex Sepkus over for a private look at some of his latest pieces on his travels. Jeff took to the streets on a road trip instead of flying like he typically does to attend his state-wide trunk shows. Nashville was one of the stops and I feel in love with this bead strand of raw dumortierite crystals. It’s a great juxtaposition with all the gold I wear and another great way to hop on the bead trend!
These carved opal necklaces are definitely my favorite piece I offered for sale this year on @shopGemGossip! I only have 3 left and I’m trying to get a few more, maybe this time without a chain attached; more like a charm. Hoping it can happen!
Lastly, have you checked out the exclusive collection of antique and vintage items I have available on At Present? Really excited to be working with them and love their vision. Gem Gossip is currently the only vintage jewelry on there, with the pieces above being some of the assortment. I just sold the sapphire and diamond dinner ring this past week. More goodies to come!
