As of late, my favorite aspects of jewelry that I enjoy spotting are insanely unique gemstone combinations or different color combinations. We all say that we like jewelry that is “unique.” Well, the word unique doesn’t always mean the same thing to everyone. To me, unique means that it is eye-catching. My eyes like picking out interesting color combinations–like amethyst mixed with blue sapphires, or champagne diamonds mixed with blue sapphires. Using unexpected items like large gold coins usually is not appealing–but if you mix the gold coins with blue sapphires in between, the look is unique and beautiful. Check out these eye-catching finds!
The color combination of a deep pink tourmaline and blue sapphires is so unique–I really love it! Better yet, the design of this ring is very different as well. An 18k yellow gold ring set with 31 baguette and trapeze cut sapphires of varying length to the entire shank, and set with a marquise cut pink tourmaline weighing approximately 12 carats. This ring is circa 1950s, France. Featured over at 1stdibs, contact dealer for price.
Also from the 1950s is this magnificent bracelet. Who would have guessed that I would think that a bracelet made out of large gold coins would be appealing to me!? The Montana blue sapphires are what makes this bracelet! Designed by Van Cleef & Arpels and featured at 1stdibs. Contact dealer for price.
A huge boulder opal is the starting point of this ring, and the main attraction. But add ribbons of champagne diamonds and blue sapphires around the opal, and they steal the show! Such a unique combination, I love it. Would be so cute as a mini version of this ring as well. Priced at $11000, this is a modern piece from Rami Abboud, featured at 1stdibs.
