Rago Arts Jewelry Auction Set for December 7, 2014

2048 2070 2077 2096 2102 2109 2121 2123 2139 2233

The moment every jewelry enthusiast has been waiting for--the countdown to Rago Arts Jewelry Auction has begun!  When my catalog arrived for the December 7th sale, it was all I could stare at for a few hours!  The sale has an abundance of collectible items, lots of rings, some incredible rare antique pieces, the largest known near-round saltwater pearl, some Hermes gloves and other items, and even a lot featuring 260+ jewelry renderings.  Things that you never thought you needed, now swirling around in your mind and you can't seem to deny that you want them!  A highlight for me are many of the lots featuring jewelry from the collection of Gray Davis Boone, a well-known dealer who had a shop in NYC's Diamond District. With each lot from her collection, one can easily recognize the years worth of collecting in one single lot!  It is such an incredible opportunity for a jewelry collector.

I will be sitting at my laptop come auction day, conveniently held on a Sunday, and logging in to bid!  If you haven't signed up, or don't know how to bid, it's simple!  Just follow the steps as outlined by Eliane Talec, Chief Administrative Officer at Rago Arts in the video, shown here.

It took quite awhile to figure out my favorite lots, but I think I finally narrowed it down to TEN!  Although I have 20 others written many good jewels!  Check them out!  What are your favorite lots?!

Lot 2048: Every antique jewelry collector needs a Victorian serpent necklace--this one is amazing!  It features a large half carat pear-shaped diamond set in the snake's head with a very unique item suspending from its mouth--another enameled snake!  I've never seen one like it! Estimate: $1,000-1,500

Lot 2070: This lot is one from Gray Davis Boone and it features three incredible Victorian gold bangles.  Two of the bangles have beautiful engraved patterns and the other is set with pearls, coral and an Old Mine cut diamond.  Such great examples of Victorian bangles!  Estimate: $2,000-3,000

Lot 2077: These two rings are to-die-for!  Both are Georgian memorial rings--one features black enamel with an applied engraved memorial for the year 1823, the other is a blue enameled ring with rose cut diamonds and inlaid TBD and HGD.  This lot is also from the collection of Gray Davis Boone. Estimate: $2,000-3,000

Lot 2096: A mouth-dropping sapphire and diamond parure, included with its original box!  The silver-topped gold, sapphire and diamond necklace measures 18 inches in length and is truly spectacular.  Matching earrings, as well as one smaller similar earring come with, along with the freedom to flaunt this, whomever wins! Estimate: $5,000-7,000

Lot 2102: Quite possibly the perfect pair of Victorian Old Mine cut diamond cluster earrings!  I love the silhouette and the size is totally ideal!  Total carat weight of the pair is 2.25 carats.  Divine!  Estimate: $1,500-2,000

Lot 2109: This group of rings is calling my name!  If reds are your color, this lot is for you--garnet and pearl eternity band, ruby eternity band, red spinel and diamonds, and garnet ring.  Four fairytale antique rings.  Estimate: $1,000-1,500

Lot 2121: A fine example of a Georgian diamond cluster ring with antique ring box.  The ring is set wtih rose cut diamonds in typical silver-topped fashion, approximately one carat total.  Size 8. Estimate: $1,500-2,000

Lot 2123: Black or blue enameling on a ring is one of my favorite details possible!  I think that is why I love this lot so much--it features a diamond cluster ring with hints of black enameling down each side.  Doesn't hurt that it comes with a cute five-stone old cut diamond band.  From the collection of Gray Davis Boone.  Estimate: $2,000-3,000

Lot 2139: Three diamond pendants, each bold and unique in their own way.  I never thought two of my favorite motifs could combine into one--starburst and heart--to form an awesome pendant.  The cabochon cut sapphire is really cool as well, along with the elongated pearl and diamond pendant.  Estimate: $1,500-2,500

Lot 2233: Banded agates in all their glory--this suite of jewelry is quite the spectacle.  A large graduated banded agate necklace measuring 24 inches in length, a matching bracelet and dangle earrings, all fitted with 14k yellow gold findings.  So cool!  Estimate: $1,000-1,500

Rago Arts Jewelry Auction 2011

Excited about this year's Rago Arts Jewelry auction because the jewelry is always gorgeous and each year I've always gotten the chance to bid on items. This auction never feels intimidating and I feel confident in the company. Every year I do a roundup of my favorite lots, and this year is no different...except this year I got a sneak peek into the jewelry cases! The above photo is a look into one of the cases over at Rago Arts. To read the interview I did with Rago Arts' Jewelry Specialist Sarah Churgin, click here.
