Jewels at my Doorstep: Alexis Kletjian Jewelry

All the April showers have rained down on us all month long and I'm here waiting for the May flowers, which will hopefully be worth the wait!  Spring is one of my most favorite times of the year; a time of rebirth, growth, freshness and strength. What better way than to capture all that in our latest Jewels at my Doorstep shoot because it is so fitting with the designer being featured--Alexis Kletjian.  Her jewelry is created and designed with the intention of being a part of your every day wardrobe, being passed down, and becoming a part of your legacy. The word legacy is very important to Alexis--it is a word she often thinks of when celebrating milestones, both in life and online. Celebration often goes hand-in-hand with giving/receiving jewelry, and it is exactly that idea which Alexis feels her jewelry line lends itself perfectly with. She also celebrates online anytime her social media platforms hit a special milestone and she gives back by drawing names from anyone who has emailed her with their legacy story!  Winner receives $1000 good toward a piece from the Alexis Kletjian collections.

A milestone like a birthday, anniversary or holiday are all ideal moments to share a piece of Alexis Kletjian jewelry--a shield pendant, a hexagon band, or any of her initial charms--there are so many great pieces. I was really excited to see her jewels, as I haven't seen them in awhile. I also got to experience some never-before-seen pieces she has been busy cooking up!  Like the emerald and diamond crossover ring and the opal lotus star pendant with one-of-a-kind boulder opals. Definitely some of my favorite pieces!  We can't forget the Retiarii earrings because those need their own special introduction. Glamorous, sleek and bold--shining bright with diamonds set in the "netting" of the design (a retiarii is an ancient gladiator net used to protect oneself in battle) and dangling with two specially cut chrysoberyls by Top Notch Faceting. These earrings can be customized, as Alexis also makes them in all gold, all diamonds, or all diamonds + moonstone. The bangles were beyond belief, as they came done in 18k gold with three different eternity style gemstone varieties: demantoid garnet, chrome diopside, and tanzanite.  Lastly, we must discuss my obsession with these "crystal ball" looking rings because when I look into them, I can see my future.  They are actually prehnite cabochons and although you might not have ever heard of that stone before, get familiar!  Alexis just put it on the map.

Our shoot was set on a glorious spring morning in Nashville; our location being Belmont University--one of the prettiest schools I've ever been to. They are known for their lavish gardens, with over 14,000 tulips (imported from the Netherlands), and over 100 species of trees and shrubs. Efforts have been put in place to keep the campus classified as a tree sanctuary.  The photos were shot by Lauren Newman Photography and we used as much of the gardens, plants, trees and flowers as possible in all the shots. We hope you enjoy!

Dana Seng Jewelry Launches New Signature Birthstone & Number Collection

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Dana Seng Jewelry Dana Seng Jewelry

Dana Seng Jewelry has been wildly popular since it first launched because who doesn't love personalized, layer-ready jewelry?! Her pieces let the buyer pick the letter that they want and the gemstone of their choice, allowing for double customization. It wasn't long until Dana decided to unleash what the people have been wanting--NUMBERS! Just as letters are so special and important, so are numbers. We all have a lucky number, a favorite number...a date we were born on or celebrate something memorable, so I already know numbers are going to be a huge hit.

For me, it will always be number 8! I was born on the 8th and the number has stayed with me all throughout my life and revealed itself in many ways. I know you--right now--reading this blog post, have a favorite number.  Wouldn't you love to have it hanging from your neck? Or chilling on your finger?  Maybe even draped on your wrist?

I'm excited to have partnered with Dana to be the one who announces this new birthstone number collection-- and stay tuned for another really FUN blog post coming your way! HINT: I've never done anything like it before!

You can see the full collection and order your own signature birthstone number piece NOW on the official website--they just launched today!

Walters Faith Jewelry has been creating a buzz since launching in 2013. They've captured an audience that needed jewelry badly, and that audience happens to be the unisex crowd. Now more than ever, unisex jewelry is on the rise and Walters Faith has created lots of options of hefty, handcrafted pieces. From their wide, ridged bands in multiple gold colors, to their links and hexagonal motif, all pieces are architecturally pleasing and staples in so many wardrobes.

Their latest venture is a collaboration with Olivia Chantecaille, launching a capsule collection of diamond, sapphire and amethyst pendant necklaces inspired by the elegance and luxury of beauty compacts. The collaboration between jewelry designers and beauty guru brings two worlds together that usually are very separate, and the end results are beautiful! That's why Walters Faith is this month's One To Follow!

Q & A with Dana Seng Jewelry

Dana Seng Jewelry | Gem Gossip

The Instagram likes are no lie--people love Dana Seng's jewelry designs. Whether it is the stackable appeal or the fashionable looks each piece has, Dana is doing it right. It is hard to win over millennials in this fast-paced society we live in, however this new company has been working hard at creating jewelry that is fun, has a good value and can be worn by all ages. And just like that, people are catching on and wanting their own Dana Seng Jewelry pieces. The personalized birthstone initials are one of Dana's most popular designs (I have my own sapphire D necklace) and it is easy to understand why. The personalization of both the gemstone used, as well as the initial chosen, is unique because of the two-step process. Most items only have one element that can be personalized--this has two!

I caught up with the designer herself to see what she has been up to:

I am currently working on designing new styles to add to my Eternity Collection for this Spring/Summer season. I am very anxious to share these new designs because I am putting in my all in each and every one of them. I am also sharing my signature Birthstone & Initial collection with many of our fans out there.

I started working at my husband’s wholesale company as an engagement ring designer. I was and still am very skillful at jewelry designing. So, I began my own Dana Seng Jewelry line. I use my passion and knowledge to create exceptionally unique styles that are rarely to be found.

I would say that by showing my Birthstone & Initial Collection out there to our fans and the fact that they absolutely loved it was a proudest moment of my jewelry career.

Also opening up my own showroom and launching the website were huge highlights so far. My showroom is located in downtown Los Angeles and I just love how beautiful it is!  Everything came together.

To be honest, I create every piece of my design out of passion. I use a pen and a paper to scratch out all the ideas that I have and put them together. So my future goal is to continue to design unique and comfortable jewelry pieces with high quality materials and sell them at an affordable price point to our consumers.

I would have to say an initial necklace that my grandmother gifted me when I was a teenager. I am very thankful and so grateful for this particular gift because it inspires me to figure out many unique designs.

Jewels at my Doorstep: MATEO New York

Powerfully creative, remarkably chic--Mateo New York is a line of jewelry created by Matthew "Mateo" Harris, Jamaican born creative who feasts on inspiration and jewelry, 24/7. His creations speak for themselves, often described as minimalistic designs, yet are bursting with feeling, power and innovation. I would never call it "trendy" jewelry--these pieces are staples for the fashionistas, obsessions of the creative geniuses, and everyday classics for the it-girl. I dare you to put on one of his chokers and not feel cool. The tying of the velvet bow that every choker isn't complete without doing so will give you endless possibilities of wearing it--either in the back, off to the side, or be daring and wear the bow toward the front!

I was so excited to get to spend a few days with Mateo's pieces--I tried them on, wore them out and of course, styled the above looks and put them into a photoshoot. I was inspired by his latest venture--opening up a flagship store in Nolita, NYC, where I felt his style, mixed with big city vibes, created a sleek look. The store is exactly his aesthetic and is a vital part of his brand. Getting customers to walk into the inviting space, see and try-on his pieces, is just the first step in a life-long client for Mateo--and it is something that online shopping lacks. But don't let that stop you from visiting his website and browsing/shopping online! Just know that his pieces are that much more amazing in person! ;)

Picking out the items was tough for me because I pretty much love every single piece that Mateo makes!  If you love geometric jewelry, you'll die over all the endless shapes and Calder-inspired mobile designs. The 14k yellow gold Mobile Shapes earrings were fun, playful and affordable luxury items that set the tone of my shoot. They instantly turned my ear lobes into a work of art. The chokers are a definite favorite and if you're in the market to buy one, I suggest you get one of Mateo's! I've tried on way too many cheap-feeling ones from other designers and his is the real deal! The Semi-Circle Disc earrings created the second look and I felt that wet, slicked hair was necessary for it. Whether it is circles, squares or triangles--Mateo takes ordinary shapes and makes them extraordinary. Hope to own a piece for myself in the future!
