Gem Gossip's Pick of the Week!

My pick of the week comes from Doyle & Doyle, a team of two sisters who specialize in hand-picking unique estate and antique jewelry.  With twelve years in this business, you know everything in their store or on their site is remarkable!  While browsing through inventory on their website, I came across this precious necklace.  You may remember how I said doves are an important symbol in my life from this post.  And this necklace is just as cute!  It is 14k yellow gold with blue guilloche enamel design on the pendant.  I like how the two doves are together, rather than just having one alone.  It sells for $375.

Spotted: Hilary Duff's 'Gladiator-Inspired' Bib Necklace

We were first introduced to Hilary Duff's gorgeous golden bib necklace during Cartier's Love Charity Bracelet launch party, back in June.  She has been seen wearing it out to dinner with boyfriend Mike Comrie since then, everytime looking great.  This type of necklace is so chic, it could be worn to a red carpet event or even to dinner, as Hilary Duff has.  I wanted to find some similar ones so that anyone else who loves this look, as I do, can wear almost an identical necklace.

This necklace is of the Victorian era, most likely Europe. It is 18k gold and has an intricate scallop design. It can be purchased at Adin for $1142.

The design on this bib necklace is most similar to Hilary Duff's. The pointy look is so delicate, yet so fierce. A combination of white and yellow gold is used in this particular necklace. This necklace is also from Adin, for $1140.

And the last necklace I found is very bold, has more gold weight and more expensive. Sure is stunning though! The scallop design has half sun/flower shapes from the Art Deco era. Also from Adin and priced at $1477.

Statue of David; Gold Gold Gold

A gold rush has come over me.  With all these commercials convincing viewers to "sell your old gold jewelry" I think we should also be investing in gold as well.  Not like the big bars of solid gold, I mean gold jewelry!  Big, chunky pieces.  Some of the best gold jewelry I own is from my grandparents.  They would bring back gorgeous pieces from their trips to Italy for my sisters and I.  We would get so excited to see what treasures they'd find.

Above is an 18k yellow gold oval link bracelet from one of my grandparents' trips overseas, given to my sister. Its our favorite keepsake. Now that my grandparents are older, they don't really go to Italy as much, so we treasure our gold Italian jewelry even more. Below are a few finds that remind me of some of the pieces we treasure.

Greek key is a design that will never go out of style. What better way to capture this classic design than by wearing it around your finger. This ring is a steal at $265...that's only a dollar a day for a year! From Ross-Simons.

Another classic motif is the fleur de lis. These 18k gold earwires are one-of-a-kind! Designed by Dana David, they remind me of Europe in so many ways.

A lot of the Italian jewelry my grandparents would bring back had enameling on it. This bracelet has green enamel outlining the ends. It is a vintage piece from the 1830s and can be found at Fay Cullen for $3900. The etched detailing is remarkable!

Lindsay Lohan's "Engagement" Ring

Putting all the rumors and trash talk aside, Lindsay Lohan has been sporting quite a beautiful ring. And oddly enough, which finger does she choose to wear it on? Yes, her ring finger! And of all shapes and sizes it could possibly be, it is, but of course, a diamond pave heart. While gossip bloggers are speculating its an engagement ring from Samantha Ronson, others are saying that Lindsay herself bought it just because. I guess only time will tell.

Below are some similar heart pieces of jewelry, in case you want to emmulate the fashionista herself. I found a gorgeous ring, pin, and pendant which all have that pave diamond look.

This ring is very similar, and it also has an added ruby right in the center. Each diamond is impecably set, featuring 67 rose cut diamonds and one oval cut ruby. The shank is done in gold, while the top is set in platinum. From Lang Antiques & Estate Jewelry, for a price of $7750.

If you would rather have Lindsay's heart ring in a necklace, than this is as close as you'll get! So pretty with 42 round diamonds, totaling 1.2 carats. It is 16 inches long and set in platinum. From Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry, for a price of $2850.

Such a cute little pave diamond pin! This little pin packs a mean carat weight in diamonds--5 carats! It would look great pinned to a trendy scarf. There are 79 old mine-cut diamonds in this platinum and gold vintage pin, from the late 19th century. Comes with a hefty pricetag of $17,750 something Lindsay could afford, right? It would go great with her ring!

Slightly buddha-obsessed, my sister and I were on a mission to find a good piece of jewelry featuring, none other than, the buddha himself. We wanted either a necklace or bracelet, something you couldn't find in Forever 21 or Claire's that would tarnish in three days. Fake jewelry is a waste of money for that reason.

We found a necklace, a pendant and a bracelet, although the bracelet is not real gold, we couldn't resist its similarity to the peace sign bracelets seen recently on The Hills' Stephanie Pratt. Check out our finds below!

This pendant is our favorite. Priced at $150, it is a good buy for being 14k gold and carved jade. It would look great on a short or long chain, depending on what you like. This juicy treasure may even bring you good luck, and can be purchased at c.h.a.r.m.

When we saw this necklace, we immediately wanted to take out our credit cards. Unfortunately, $420 is not in the budget. The buddha is made out of carved coral, with a mother-of-pearl leaf and turquoise bead dangling below. On a 14k gold chain with a lobster claw clasp, this little jigglypuff can be yours by going to Ylang|23 now!

This is the bracelet we found...wish the buddha was made out of 14k gold. [sad face] But if you're into fake jewelry, he's good as golden! Max & Chloe is the neat online shop where you can purchase this bracelet for $63 in any color you want!
